Nor Any Drop To Drink

Nor Any Drop To Drink 2024 - for Tellus Triannual at Greatorex.
Installation, sculpture, film and performance. A warning structured around Samuel Coleridge's 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' where you become the Ancient Mariner. The ship has been switched for a tunnel/shelter, and the sea for land.

The work expresses inseparable links between ecocide and genocide, forcing the public on hands and knees through what they think is a tunnel whilst being pressured by rotten media, to then, unbeknownst to them, trample over 32,000 names face down and partially washed, of people who have died in recent attacks. The names, their ink running, forms a ground or sea populated by a monoculture of sculptural sentient dried banana skins.

Bugs, 2016. Plate, iron filings, solar powered cockroaches, scratched plate, projector

A work that children and adults can play with; interactive sun powered robot replicant insects are projected to giant proportions. With their googly eyes they rattle frantically on a plate, bashing into and disabling each other, until total disaster when electric light is turned off by the human, the room goes dark, and silent. A playful comment on our ill founded reliance on technology as an attempt to fix the situation.

Leading to the main room six works prepare you, raising topics from food security, to spirituality, to petromasculinity, art as money, and decision making for interbeing.
